Introduction
As far as computer cooling goes, air-cooling is definitely
the most widespread in terms of popularity and availability.
Other riskier methods such as water-cooling, thermoelectric
(peltier) cooling or phase-change cooling boast higher
performance figures at lower volumes, at the cost
of an arm and/or leg(no one said you had to go all-out
and spend both) ;) Today we'll be taking a look at
Thermalright's latest attempt to satisfy those interested
in the safety benefits and budget benefits of air-cooling
with a pure copper heatsink: the SLK-800-U.
Package Contents

Included in Thermalright's packaging is:
A Thermalright SLK-800U heatsink (you guessed it)
One X-shaped motherboard mounting panel
One clear plastic motherboard shield
Two pairs of fan clips (60mm and 80mm)
Four spring-enhanced mounting screws
Four 'fake' mounting standoffs
Six metal washers (in case you lose two, like some
irresponsible beings)
Nine electrically shielded motherboard washers(In
case you lose one… like me) ;)
One socket 478 adaptor (eight pieces inc. screws)
One syringe (1ml) JC thermal paste (white silicon-based)
Two strips self-adhesive rubber 2mm x (2mm x 57mm
adhesive area)
Four circular self-adhesive 3M pads for AMD CPU(1.5mm
depth, 6mm diameter)
A big workload of brainstorming and preparation. Thermalright
evidently does not skimp on the supplies.
The only thing I would add to this package is a set
of instructions. In fact, I would have killed for
instructions as the installation of this product was
not very easy!! Making the right choice on the best
fan for everybody would be a difficult matter of speculation
so Thermalright decided it were best to leave that
up to the buyer. Since many customers would be interested
in keeping noise levels to a minimum and others likewise
with regards to temperatures, Thermalright has decided
to leave that much in the hands of the customer. I
consider myself lucky I'm not stuck with an 85cfm
Sunon fan as that would simply destroy the pleasurable
experiences of having speakers in my computer room
and ears attached to my head! (My latest experience
with a 75cfm Thermaltake Smart Fan 2 kindly redirected
my interests towards the purchase of a water-cooling
setup, thank you very much) ;)
